10 years of service to mission:
Provide mutual support to military, military veterans and their families.
![]() Eagle Group of Minnesota Veterans was formed during the economic downturn of 2009. At that time, the unemployment rate for National Guard and veterans was double the state average.
Dismayed by the disparity and compelled to help unemployed veterans find jobs, a few like-minded Twin Cities veterans took action. Their mission: share their business connections, and their knowledge of how to turn military capabilities into job-search success. With a bias for action, they gathered as many veterans as they could find to begin small work groups at Fort Snelling. Their group grew so popular, they soon initiated monthly meetings with job seeking veterans, attracting new volunteers and employers passionate about supporting Eagle Groups mission by providing coaching, connections and support. Eagle Group of Minnesota Veterans formally organized 22 SEP 2010, and established an executive board to guide the direction of the organization, and to maximize veteran-community impact. The IRS recognized Eagle Group's 501(c)(3) status effective 31 DEC 15. On 11 FEB 2020, Eagle Group established the Women's Leadership Task Force to work alongside the board of directors in their mission to serve more women veterans, spouses and service members. One of the founding principles of Eagle Group is to provide networking leads and referrals as a critical component in the success of the job seeker. Another is that every meeting is a place to enjoy the camaraderie unique to those who serve, and to their families. That commitment continues. Today, Eagle Group is an integral member of the Twin Cities veteran service-provider community, having earned a reputation for helping veterans, spouses and service members find their next job. In addition, Eagle Group has become a go-to coaching source for military transitioning into civilian life. Eagle Group celebrates each success milestone during coaching. At monthly meetings, members who've landed a new job share what they've learned from their success journey and receive an Eagle Group challenge coin in a Landing Ceremony. Ever ready to adapt, in response to COVID-19, Eagle Group pivoted seamlessly to a virtual platform to continue serving our military-connected community: • Monthly Eagle Group meeting with TED-style presentation and Needs / Leads networking • Weekly EG Career Track meeting for coaching, support and networking referrals • Individual coaching via Zoom breakout rooms • 800 members on Facebook and LinkedIn for networking and social connection Eagle Group enjoys a volunteer cadre of scores of veterans, civilian allies, recruiters and premier employer partners. |
