Mental Health Matters: Resources and Support for Veterans

When military service ends, a new journey begins. This new journey can be exciting, but confusing and hard for many veterans. Veterans leave behind a world they knew—full of structure, purpose, and strong bonds—and enter a new life where things might feel uncertain and even lonely. That’s why mental health matters so much. At Eagle Group of Minnesota Veterans, we want every veteran and military family to know they are not alone. Help is here, and support is always available.

Why Mental Health Is Important

Mental health means how we think, feel, and act. It affects everything we do—how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Veterans often carry invisible wounds. These may include post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, or feeling hopeless. You may not talk about it, but it’s there.

It’s important to say this clearly: needing help is not a weakness. In fact, reaching out shows strength and courage. The good news is that support is always within reach—and that’s where we come in.

Get Immediate Help: The Veterans Crisis Line

If you or someone you love is in crisis, help is available now.

  • Call: Dial 988, then press 1
  • Text: Send a message to 838255
  • Chat: Go online to net

This support is free, confidential, and available 24/7. It is open to:

  • All Veterans
  • Active Duty service members
  • National Guard and Reserves
  • Family and friends of service members

You do not need to be enrolled in VA health care to get help. Even after the call or message ends, the Veterans Crisis Line can connect you with suicide prevention coordinators and local support teams. Help doesn’t stop with one conversation.

Eagle Group: Building a Safe and Strong Community

At Eagle Group of Minnesota Veterans, we understand what veterans face. We were created by veterans, for veterans. Our goal is to help you find a new purpose, build confidence, and connect with people who truly understand you.

Here’s how we help:

1. Monthly Meetings

These friendly gatherings allow veterans to meet others, share stories, and build connections. Whether you want to speak or just listen, you’re always welcome.

2. Career Coaching and Mentorship

Many veterans want a new job or career, but don’t know where to start. We offer help with job searching, resumes, and interviews. We also connect veterans with mentors—people who have walked this path and can guide them forward.

3. Community Events

Our group hosts events that help veterans and their families connect with others and feel a true sense of belonging. These events are fun, healing, and full of purpose.
