Scott Martens is the faculty lead for the Supply Chain and Business Analytics Master’s Programs at University of St Thomas Opus College of Business. He can be reached at 952-237-5121 mart6275@stthomas.edu  

Scott holds a MS in management – Supply Chain from Naval Post Graduate School and a BBA Accounting from Iowa State University. He served in the Gulf war flying the S-3B Viking extensively off the carriers USS Enterprise and USS Nimitz. Scott began his teaching career as a S-3B Viking flight instructor and has continued it for over the past 20 years at University Minnesota and University St Thomas instructing over 4,000 students in more than 100 courses in supply chain, operations, quality and accounting. He has over 25 years leadership experience in Twin Cities companies.

 Whether you worked directly in a business analytics or supply chain / logistics function while in the military, we all work in operations making data-based decisions – which is the heart and soul of supply chain and business analytics. In the military, we work in a challenging, dynamic environments half a world away and have to come up with creative solutions to keep operations going. We’re constantly coming up with contingency plans, so that you’re prepared for any unexpected issue that arises. Those same decision-making skills and adaptability we possess as military leaders are needed within the supply chain and business analytics disciplines at companies.  

Q: What Master’s degree is right for me?

Q: Does St Thomas University help me find a job and with funding my degree?

Our Business Analytics and Supply Chain programs attract veterans who are currently working full-time in business, in the National Guard or Military Reserves as well as veterans transitioning to the civilian world. Our career center actively works with transitioning veterans and our corporate partners to get them placed in relevant, meaningful positions so they can both earn and learn while in the program. Since the programs are approved by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, full tuition is covered under the post-9/11 GI Bill.

University of St Thomas has a strong commitment to the military community, both in the classroom and beyond. Having the opportunity to relate to other veterans during the program is incredibly important. You’re surrounded by others who have similar experiences and are committed to this program. We foster an environment where non-veteran students in the supply chain and business analytic programs can learn from your great military experiences.

Classroom connections extend to the many St Thomas Opus College of Business alumni thriving in business.
